Betrescue Director David Russell gives his weekly preview of all the weekend’s top flight action in Scotland.
Though they’re just two points below leaders Celtic and level with Rangers, high-flying Hibs are priced at 6/4 by Boylesports to ‘win’ the SPL without the Old Firm and are Betfred’s 40/1 choice to be crowned champions with the Glaswegian giants included in the field.
It’s hard to see those odds lengthening this weekend when they head to Kilmarnock as Victor Chandler’s 6/4 favourites to register maximum points. It took an 84th minute penalty for Hibs to beat Killie at Easter Road in mid-October and Betdaq consider the chances of it again finishing 1-0 in the Edinburgh side’s favour as a 7/1 shot. However, punters who suspect that home advantage could work for Killie may prefer Sportingbet’s 21/10 for them to win.
Inconsistent St Johnstone also performed resolutely and only succumbed to a late Rangers winner when the sides last met, but Rangers kick off as overwhelming 2/7 favourites according to online firm Jaxx.com when the pair meet at Ibrox. Partybets price the Saints at 11/1 and Victor Chandler marks the draw at a tempting 9/2.
Stan James offers 3/5 about Celtic beating Motherwell tomorrow, thus ensuring they maintain their charge at the top of the table, while Dundee United (13/8 with bet365 to win the title without the Old Firm) are attractively priced at 7/5 to overcome Hearts (2/1, Partybets) at Tynecastle. Meanwhile, St Mirren (11/10, Betfred) should have little difficulty beating hapless Falkirk (14/5, Ladbrokes) who have secured just two away points from a possible 21.
Hamilton have won only one away match this term, during which they’ve managed just six goals. As Aberdeen boast six clean sheets, Boylesports’ 17/10 for the home side to win and not concede is worthy of further consideration.
