Federer Remains Favourite Despite Scare

TENNIS BETTING: Australia Open Update
At the close of day two eighth sees Robin Soderling was the only major casualty though the 11/4 favourite Roger Federer had to survive an early scare.

Robin Soderling, seeded eighth, let slip a two-set lead in a shock 5-7 2-6 6-4 6-4 6-2 loss to Marcel Granollers.

Third third seed Novak Djokovic (6/1 Victor Chandler) and sixth seed Nikolay Davydenko (8/1 Stan James) both cruised through their opening matches and join second seed Rafael Nadal (7/2 Paddy Power) fourth seed Juan Martin Del Potro (8/1 Betdaq) and fifth seed Andy Murray (6/1 Betfred and 888Sport) in the second round.

In the women’s contest, number one seed Serena Williams, who won in straight sets against Urszula Radwanska, remains Coral’s 3/1 favourite to win for the fourth time in her career.

Close behind is Kim Clijsters, who is chalked up at 10/3 by Stan James after losing just four games in a two-set victory against Valerie Tetreault.
