Hoops To Pile On The Misery For Hibs

FOOTBALL BETTING: Live On Sky Sports 3: Sun 13:15
Third placed Hibs host second placed Celtic and Aberdeen travel to Kilmarnock in today’s televised SPL matches. Sam Tomlinson previews.

&flagHibs were the bookies’ friend and a punters nightmare back in January when they left Parkhead with all three points and if John Hughes’ boys were set to host Celtic in similar circumstances today, it would be hard to recommend a Hoops triumph.

However, the Hibees form has nosedived since that contest; they’ve won just four of their 13 matches in all competitions and having been rolled over by Dundee United in midweek, Hibs make for no appeal either at 5/1 with bet365 to scoop all three points or at 11/4 (Paddy Power) to land a share of the spoils.

Celtic of course, have had their own troubles and indeed they were hammered 4-0 in their last away game; a result that cost Tony Mowbray his job; but they bounced back against Killie on Saturday with Neil Lennon at the helm and look a safe bet here at 4/6 courtesy of Betfred.

Nevertheless, viewers can expect a tight affair and so a quid or two on a Hoops triumph by a one-goal margin is worth considering at 3/1 (Ladbrokes), as is Betdaq’s 7/1 for them to nick it 2-1.

Despite their dip in form, Hibs have continued to find the net, scoring in their last seven and they can extend that sequence here; they’re 40/85 at Partybets to beat Artur Boruc. They may even take the lead (15/8, Victor Chandler), as they have done in five of their last eight and that statistic lends appeal to Paddy Power’s 8/1 for Lennon’s charges to win having gone behind.

Robbie Keane meanwhile, has hit eight in his last five games and he’s just 3/1 with William Hill to add to that tally with the opener in the capital, although 888Sport’s 4/5 for the Irish marksman to notch at any time is arguably a better bet.

Kilmarnock are in a rotten run of form at present and at 13/8 with Victor Chandler, Aberdeen look overpriced at 13/8 to inflict more misery on their former boss Jimmy Calderwood’s side by leaving Rugby Park with maximum points.

St Johnstone’s stunning success against Rangers in midweek means Derek McInnes’ men will be buzzing ahead of the visit of Dundee United but the Terrors are also on a high having moved into a five-point lead in third with a victory against Hibs.

On Monday, United head to McDiarmid Park as Totesport’s 5/4 favourites while Saints are priced by Jaxx.com at 39/20 to boost their top six chances with another triumph. However, the buoyant pair can cancel each other out in Perthshire, where Stan James’ 12/5 for the draw is the best bet.

Elsewhere, a 1-1 scoreline is chalked up by 888Sport at 6/1 while Cillian Sheridan, who set Saints on their way against the league leaders, is a generous 13/5 (Paddy Power) to find the net at any stage.
