Royal Ascot Market Movers: Monday 14th

HORSE RACING: A look at some of Royal Ascot’s market moves in the ante post horse racing markets, including the Prince of Wales’s Stakes. Compare latest odds for ante post horse racing.

Punters looking for clues for the big field races on the straight course at Royal Ascot this week were given an early indicator on Sunday when clerk Chris Stickels issued GoingStick readings which suggest that the far rail has an edge over the stands’ side.

The readings for the straight course on Sunday afternoon were 9.0 on the stands’ side, 8.8 on the centre and 9.2 on the far side. The round course reading was 8.5

King’s Stand Stakes:
Nicconi and Kingsgate Native go head to head in the Royal Ascot opener, Nicconi is as short as 9/4 at Will Hills but best price 10/3 at Betdaq. Kingsgate Native is 7/2 at Betfred.

Gold Trail is attracting attention, Paddy Power moving into 9/1 from 12′s. This will be due to the half decent draw in stall 8 (see going above) and Portelli’s ramping up of his chances in the Australian press.

Queen Anne Stakes:
A cracking race sees top milers from Ireland, Britain and France go head to head, Goldikova remains market fav of 7/4 at Ladbrokes, no real move over the weekend.

Aidan O’Brien has voiced genuine concerns about Rip Van Winkle’s fitness ahead of the Queen Anne Stakes but the punters nor the bookies have reacted yet, remaining at 5/2 in general, 11/4 at Betdaq.

Blue Sq move Paco Boy to 5/2 from 3/1.

St James Palace Stakes:

Coventry Stakes:
Stan James have cut Zoffany in to 7/2 from 11/2 after Ballydoyle opted to put Johnny Murtagh on board, a slightly surprising move. Ryan Moore alights Samuel Morse who consequently has been pushed out to 4/1 from 11/4 (also Stan James).

Bet365 have also taken a wedge off Zoffany, going to 3/1 from 4/1.

Strong Suit, the fancied fav, has been pushed to 5/2 from 11/4 by most firms including Victor Chandler but William Hill remain at 11/4.

Prince of Wales’s Stakes:

Royal Hunt Cup:
Coral have snipped outsider Docofthebay to 20/1 from 33′s, bet365 matching that price, down from 28/1.

Spectait is another outsider on the move with bet365, 40/1 into 25/1.

Ascot Gold Cup:
Ask has made positive moves to become clear 3rd fav after Coral moved from 6/1 to 5/1. William Hill also shortened to 11/2 from a slightly longer 7/1.

Golden Jubilee Stakes:
William Hill and Sportingbet both had Fleeting Spirit at 10/1 but both shaved a bit off, now 8/1 and 9/1 respectively.

Wokingham Heritage Handicap:
Medicean Man into 16′s from 20/1 with Betfred.

Stan James cut Frankie Dettori from 14s to 10/1 to be top jockey at Royal Ascot after he got first pick at Godolphin’s stable.
