Ascot watered on Wednesday evening
Punters looking for clues for the big field races on the straight course at Royal Ascot this week were given an early indicator on Sunday when clerk Chris Stickels issued GoingStick readings which suggest that the far rail has an edge over the stands’ side.
The readings for the straight course on Sunday afternoon were 9.0 on the stands’ side, 8.8 on the centre and 9.2 on the far side. The round course reading was 8.5
Ascot Gold Cup:
Stan James have slashed Purple Moon from 33s to 14/1 following a morning plunge on the Luca Cumani trained former Ebor winner.
Outsider Bannaby is clipped in to 25/1 from 33/1 by William Hill.
Ask is sneaking up on 2nd fav Age Of Aquarius, Ask is into 5/1 from 6/1 with Paddy Power.
Coronation Stakes:
Lillie Langtry moves into joint fav position with Anna Salai at 4’s, and Totesport have gone as far as to drop to 7/2 for clear fav.
Famous, a 66/1 outside shout, has been halved by Sportingbet to 33/1.
Lady Of The Desert is stalking the front runners, moved to 7/1 from 8/1 by Bet365, Evading Tempete also another moving early doors, 10’s from 12/1 (Blue Square).
Golden Jubilee Stakes:
Showcasing reinforces his position as fav, shortened to 5/1 by Paddy Power and Stan James from 6/1 and 11/2 respectively.
Starspangledbanner with a slight move, 7/1 from 8/1 (Bet365), vying for 2nd fav position with Happy Zero.
Triple Aspect makes a small speculative move to 16/1 from 20’s at Paddy Power but nothing significant yet.
High Standing makes a bold move to 10/1 from 14’s with Coral.
Main Aim has taken a good jump to 10/1 from 16/1 with Stan James, coming into contact with the top group.
Wokingham Heritage Handicap:
Main mover is Prohibit, Boylesports have knocked a decent chunk off, going from 33/1 to 20/1 in what is still a very wide open market.
The Wokingham market sprang into life (12.00) after it was revealed Hawkeyethenoo, joint 7/1 fav with Genki, failed to make the cut for the final field. Genki is left as clear fav, totesport shortening to 6/1 from 8/1.
Jimmy Style came into 14/1 from 20’s with Ladbrokes
Jockeys:
Stan James make Ryan Moore the 10/11 favourite to be the top jockey at Royal Ascot following Wednesday’s brace of winners.
