DARTS BETTING: Live on SkySports1: Thu 19.00: Phil The Power Taylor is odds on to take the UK Open, the “FA Cup of darts”, in the Bolton Reebok this week. Can anyone stop his charge?
The 128 man field will begin the fight for the UK Open title on Thursday night at Bolton’s Reebok Stadium where Phil Taylor is once again tipped for glory and to retain his UK Open title.
Taylor, who wont feature until the 3rd round (along with the top 32 ranked players), is 8/15 with Blue Square to win in Bolton and justifiably so, after his double 9-dart extravaganza in the Premier League.
Taylor threw 2 9-dart legs in that final, the first in darts’ history, and is keen to replicate that feat. His opponent that day was James Wade who is 14/1 3rd fav with 888sport to win. Whitlock, who had a great close to the Premier League campaign but couldn’t provide in the playoffs, is 12/1 with Stan James.
It’s absolutely impossible to back against Taylor with justification. Given his form this year and given the fact that the Open is randomly drawn each round, you can’t make a case for another player without having a large slice of luck. James Wade may well be a good option, or perhaps Van de Voort at 80/1 (totesport), but you really ought to take advantage of the half-odds first 2 option (ie make the final).
