F1 BETTING: McClaren had a day to forget at the Hungary GP as not only was Lewis Hamilton knocked off top spot by Webber but Red Bull have usurped McClaren in the Constructors Champs.
McClaren were thoroughly out-paced in Hungary as Red Bull and Ferrari claimed the top 4 spots. The best McClaren could manage was a damage limitation run from Button, who finished down in 8th.
Lewis Hamilton’s gear box gave up barely a third of the way in and the Englishman is now 5/1 at Sportingbet, 4th fav, for the overall title. His lead at the top of the Drivers Championship has been steadily eroded over the weeks as Webber (twice), Vettel and Alonso have all picked up maximums since Hamilton’s last win in Canada some 5 races ago.
Webber now sits atop the boards, 4 points ahead of Hamilton and 10/3 with Betdaq. Vettel remains fav (17/10 Stan James) but has now sat on pole for the last 3 races and converted none of them into wins, raising big questions about his race skills. The McClarens must get back to winning ways if Hamilton or Button, an outside 25/1 with Boylesports, are to mount a challenge to regain the top 2 spots they occupied for a number of weeks.
Alonso, 7/2 at Skybet, is starting to look dangerous as the Ferrari is performing, he will be there or there abouts come Abu Dhabi and is well worth considering as the eventual winner.
In the Constructor’s Championship, Red Bull’s 1st and 3rd, coupled with McClaren’s failure, propelled them to clear 1st in the table and clear 1st fav, just 1/2 with Bet365 to win the outright. McClaren are pushed out to 11/4 with 888sport, 8 points behind.
