Old Firm Double Pays 6/5

David Myers previews all the top flight action in Scotland this weekend where a double on the old firm pays 6/5 at Betfred

Celtic kept up their 100% league record at Kilmarnock last week and are 1/3 with Paddy Power to continue that run at home to Hibernian (10/1, Betdaq) on Saturday.

Neil Lennon’s troops have kept things tight at home where they have won 4-0 and 3-0, and are well priced at 11/10 (Gamebookers) to win ‘to nil’. It is also interesting that the last four meetings between them here produced four goals or more on three occasions – a 5/4 chance with Jaxx.com.

Newboy Scott Vernon made it two goals in two games for Aberdeen in Saturday’s second-half fightback at Motherwell where they came away with a draw, which is quoted at 11/4 (Stan James) on Sunday at home to Rangers (4/6, Betfred). History suggests Aberdeen may not have a problem finding the Ger’s net, though, as they netted in six of their last seven encounters against them at Pittordrie, where they are unbeaten since 2006.

Hearts are seven points adrift of Celtic and are Victor Chandler’s 11/10 jollies for three points at home to Motherwell (11/4, 888sport). Jim Jefferies’ men have only lost to Celtic this season, on the sole occasion they failed to net.

Dundee United (4/5, Ladbrokes) will be looking to get back on the winning trail at home to St Johnstone (7/2, Stan James) following a 4-0 defeat at Rangers. That was United’s second 4-0 reverse, which points to goals in this game as St Johnstone have scored in both away games, making a case for bet365’s 4/5 about both teams scoring.

Bottom-placed Hamilton are 13/10 with Totesport to win their first home match of the season against Kilmarnock (11/5, Betdaq), who have scored in all bar one of their games. The Accies have already conceded 11 goals, making Kilmarnock good odds to be the first team to net twice in the match at 11/4 (William Hill).

Inverness let a one-goal lead slip against Hearts, but are attractively priced at 21/10 with Ladbrokes to bounce back with a win at St Mirren. Those odds bare close inspection too, as St Mirren have lost three times this season, with just the lone 1-0 home win over Hibernian. In fact, that was the only time Saints didn’t leak a goal, adding appeal to Inverness’ odds of 4/1 to be 1-0 up at half time with Victor Chandler.
