Danny Fullbrook’s TV Tips

The Daily Star’s Chief Football writer, Danny Fullbrook gives his verdict on this weekend’s televised matches in the Premier League.

Manchester United v Tottenham, ESPN: Sat 17.30:
Manchester United against Tottenham is the pick of the games this weekend and it should be a real cracker both teams like playing attacking football, but Spurs seem to have a mental block when it comes to taking on Sir Alex Ferguson’s side.

With Inter Milan coming up in midweek Harry Redknapp’s side could have one eye on that, but they still need points in the Premier League. Who will score for United is difficult to predict at the moment, but in this game I fancy a draw which is quite a healthy 10/3 with Stan James. I can’t resist a little punt on Dimitar Berbatov scoring the first goal at 5/1 with Betfred as well.

Newcastle v Sunderland, Skysports 1: Sun 13.30:
The north east derby between Newcastle and Sunderland is going to be some battle. But the Magpies are struggling at home this season, apart from the game against Aston Villa, and I fancy Steve Bruce’s team to get the win their football has deserved recently. They are 13/5 (Skybet) to take the spoils.

The other derby on Sunday is the Midlands one between Birmingham and Aston Villa which can get really nasty. Villa are improving under Gerard Houllier and although this is a tough game I think they could have enough to take the Blues. For me it will be a tight first half with a draw at half-time, followed by a Villa win which is 7/2 with Paddy Power.

Bolton v Liverpool, Skysports 1: Sun 16.00:
The late game on Sunday is Bolton against Liverpool. A lot of people are down on Roy Hodgson, but I think he will do a good job and after beting Blackburn I think Fernando Torres will lead them to victory (13/10 with William Hill), and he is 9/2 to score the first goal in the game at Ladbrokes.

Blackpool v West Brom, Skysports 1: Mon 20.00:
Blackpool against West Brom is the Monday night football this week this should be one hell of a game. Ian Holloway’s men are great at home at the moment (2/1 ), and nearly beat Manchester City recently, while West Brom (13/8 Boylesports), as we know, are flying high. I like the 13/5 on offer for a draw between these two at 23/10 with Betdaq.
