The Daily Star’s Chief Football writer, Danny Fullbrook fancies a Liverpool, Manchester City double at 7/2 in Sunday’s Premier League matches.
Everton V Liverpool: Sky Sports 1: Sun 13:30
It is quite incredible how big the Merseyside derby in October has suddenly become. In betting terms nobody would have had a punt at the start of the season that by the time Liverpool (2/1 Coral) travelled to Everton (8/5 ) they would be third from bottom, with their neighbours just one place above.
Both teams desperately need to win this one and the draw will have plenty of backers at 9/4 (888Sport), but for me, despite being away from home, Liverpool will have the upper hand. Roy Hodgson’s team just can’t carry on playing as bad as they have been and Fernando Torres is back.
He is bound to have an impact and I feel that Liverpool are a good, if controversial bet to win away from home, and I would double that up with Torres scoring the first goal at an incredible 7/1 with Unibet
Blackpool V Man City: Sky Sports 1: Sun 16:00
Another north-west clash this weekend includes Blackpool (5/1 Ladbrokes) against Manchester City (8/13 William Hill). Ian Holloway is about as far removed from Roberto Mancini as you are going to get, but at the same time they are still Premier League managers and both deserve equal respect.
Blackpool have pulled off some stunning results this season and might be fancied to scrape a point by some (3/1 ), but for me City will do a professional job this weekend and I fancy them to win 2-0 (15/2 bet365), or at least by two clear goals against the Seasiders at 4/1 with Ladbrokes
