Championship Team News

Get the lowdown on all of the team news for the latest round of Championship matches before you put your money on.

Barnsley v Portsmouth
Luke Potter (knee) faces 6 weeks out for BARNSLEY and with Jay McEveley (ankle) and Matt Hill (foot) both out, The Reds are short at left-back. POMPEY have extended Greg Halford’s loan for another month and with Carl Dickinson starting a 3-match ban, Hermann Hreidarsson could step back in after a long injury lay off.

Bristol City v Leicester
Louis Carey (shin) will miss at least a fortnight for BRISTOL CITY meaning Cole Skuse or Christian Ribeiro will step in but Nicky Hunt is unlikely to figure after a terrible outing against Leeds. LEICESTER have no fresh injuries and have revealed Aleksandar Tunchev is progressing well while Michael Rensing has rejected a contract offer.

Cardiff v Nottm Forest
Daniel Drinkwater and Steve McPhail are hoping for recalls to the CARDIFF side but with no new injuries at the club, they may well stay on the bench. Kelvin Wilson (back) remains FOREST’s only concern ahead of the weekend as Billy Davies may look to shuffle his pack following last week’s goalless encounter and Dele Adebola could be considered.

Coventry v Burnley
Goalkeeper Keiren Westwood should recover from illness for COVENTRY and striker Clive Platt is set to win his fitness race as well. Danny Fox (ankle) misses the opportunity to face his former club and BURNLEY will also assess Martin Paterson (fitness) while Ross Wallace could be handed a starting berth after impressing last time out.

Derby v Scunthorpe
Stephen Bywater made a successful return for DERBY’s reserves but is unlikely to challenge for a place yet while striker Alberto Bueno is pushing for a start after missing 3 games. SCUNTHORPE have extended the loan of Kevin McDonald but Sam Togwell (knee), Niall Cananvan (knee) and Michael Collins (shoulder) are all set to miss out.

Doncaster v Swansea
New signing Dennis Souza is set to go straight onto the bench for DONCASTER, Simon Whaley is hoping to make his debut after signing late last week and Dean Shiels is fit again while Byron Webster leaves on a month’s loan to Hereford. SWANSEA captain Garry Monk (calf) faces 3 weeks out and vice-captain Alan Tate is serving a 1-match ban.

Hull v Ipswich
HULL duo Liam Rosenior and Daniel Ayala are both doubtful with hamstring injuries but Paul McShane trained this week and could step in while Nobby Solano could also start. Hamstring trouble is also set to rule out IPSWICH pair Luke Hyam and Mark Kennedy while Roy Keane is still without David Norris (ankle) and Gareth McAuley (Achilles).

Middlesbrough v Millwall
Marvin Emnes could be given a chance to impress for BORO after returning from a loan spell at Swansea, Kevin Thomson should be fit despite limping off last week. MILWALL have boosted their attack with the loan capture of Calvin Andrew and Jason Puncheon as the likes of Kevin Lisbie, Neil Harris and Theo Robinson are all on the injured list.

Norwich v Leeds United
Grant Holt is available for NORWICH after his red card at Reading last week was rescinded, Michael Nelson is fit again while Adam Drury and Andrew Surman are also nearing a return. George McCartney (ankle) and Amdy Faye (hamstring) are slight doubts for LEEDS but Sanchez Watt and Richard Naylor featured for the reserves in midweek.

QPR v Preston
QPR are without the suspended Shaun Derry, Heidar Heiguson (neck) faces a late fitness test and Kyle Walker (ankle) is a slight doubt but Matt Connolly returns from a ban. Preston are sweating on the fitness of Sean St Ledger and Callum Davidson but Ritchie De Laet, Danny Pugh and Michael Tonge could be included after arriving in loan deals.

Watford v Reading
WATFORD boss Malky Mackay took the unusual step of utilising kriotherapy chambers on Wednesday to aid his players’ recovery from niggles and knocks, although the Hornets have few injury concerns. READING hope to welcome back Jimmy Kebe but Ivar Ingimarsson has suffered a setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury.

Sheff United v Crystal Palace
UNITED will be without winger Jamie Ward (ankle) for a month and Stephen Quinn misses this televised clash for personal reasons but Blades boss Gary Speed has no fresh injury concerns. Anthony Gardner hopes to start for PALACE after replacing the ill Claude Davis against Coventry, Julian Bennett and Adam Barrett may also feature.
