Championship Team News

Get the lowdown on all of the team news for the latest round of Championship matches before you put your money on.

Barnsley v Watford
Nathan Doyle serves a 1-match ban for BARNSLEY and The Tykes are struggling at left back with injuries to Matt Hill (foot), Jay McEveley (ankle) and Luke Potter (knee) and are expected to dip into the loan market. John Eustace is available again for WATFORD after suspension but the Hornets have no fresh injury concerns.

Bristol City v Sheff United
Ivan Sproule leaves BRISTOL CITY to join Yeovil on loan while Joe Edwards returns and City will once again be without captain Louis Carey (shin). SHEFF UNITED are able to call on the services of Andy Reid for a while longer after extending his loan but will be without Daniel Bogdanovic (suspended) while Stephen Quinn could return.

Crystal Palace v Doncaster
Owen Garvan is suspended for CRYSTAL PALACE and they are also set to be without captain Paddy McCarthy (groin) for up to a fortnight. Billy Sharp is likely to step straight back into the DONCASTER team after shaking off a hamstring injury which means new loan signing David Healy could find himself on the bench along with Simon Whaley.

Middlesbrough v Hull
Kevin Thomson (leg) is set to miss out for ‘BORO while Gary O’Neil (knee) is also a big doubt while Stephen McManus (ankle) is looking at a lengthy lay-off. Paul McShane and Jay Simpson will step back into HULL’s squad following injuries and loan signing Cameron Stewart is a consideration but Daniel Ayala (hamstring) is still a doubt.

Preston v Millwall
PRESTON have snapped up Leon Cort on loan and he goes straight into the team as Callum Davidson (groin) is likely to sit out but Keith Treacy is eligible to play again. MILLWALL have boosted options up front with the loan of Josh McQuoid while Chris Hackett (hip) will be assessed up to kick-off and Scott Barron is available after suspension.

QPR v Cardiff
QPR boss Neil Warnock welcomes Shaun Derry and Bradley Orr back from suspension for the crucial clash and Heidar Helguson is fit again after a neck injury. Chris Burke (hip) and Lee Naylor (groin) both hope to be fit for the Bluebirds, who should be able to name Stephen McPhail on the bench after he missed out last week through illness.

Reading v Leeds
READING’s Ivar Ingimarsson could need surgery to cure a troublesome hamstring injury, Brynjar Gunnarsson (thigh) is still struggling but Jimmy Kebe is pushing to start after coming off the bench last week. Amdy Faye (hamstring) is hoping to return for LEEDS but Richard Naylor is out having undergone surgery on a troublesome knee injury.

Scunthorpe v Coventry
Michael Raynes (thigh) will be out for several weeks, fellow SCUNTHORPE defenders David Mirfin (foot) and Niall Canavan (knee) remain sidelined while Michael Collins (shoulder) isn’t quite ready. Eddie Nolan however, should return. COVENTRY pair Sammy Clingan and Ben Turner (both knee) are still absent but David Bell is pushing for a recall.

Burnley v Derby
BURNLEY are monitoring the progress of Martin Paterson (thigh) but loan signing John Guidetti could feature and Chris McCann (knee) has given his side a boost by resuming training with a view to a New Year comeback. Shaun Barker should return from suspension for DERBY, who have James Bailey back after illness, but Gareth Roberts is now banned.

Norwich v Ipswich
Injury-hit NORWICH could be without Korey Smith (ankle), Matt Gill (calf) is also out and Adam Drury’s calf problem is taking longer than expected to heal. IPSWICH have lost Tom Eastman to a groin injury, Gareth McAuley (Achilles) is still out but Roy Keane has strengthened his squad by bringing Gianni Zuiverloon and Rory Fallon in on loan.

Leicester v Nottm Forest
Andy King should be fit for LEICESTER despite limping off at Bristol City last Saturday while the Foxes can also call on a couple of loan signings, ‘keeper Chris Kirkland and striker Roman Bednar. Kelvin Wilson (back) is nearing a return for FOREST whose own loan captures, Marcus Tudgay and Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsey should go straight into the squad.
