Chelsea Ready To Qualify

Live on Skysports 2 & 4: Wed 19.45: Chelsea will guarantee progression in the Champions League by beating Spartak (2/7 William Hill).

Chelsea have won all three of their Group F matches in the Champions League and a victory at home to Spartak Moscow will subsequently guarantee their progression to the knockout phase.

It’s hard to see past Carlo Ancelotti’s men then but there’s little in the match betting for punters given that the Blues are just 2/7 with William Hill to make it four out of four. Nevertheless, as Chelsea notched twice without reply away to the Russian side last time out, there’s every chance that they could coast to a comfortable victory at Stamford Bridge and it’s the margin of victory, via the handicaps, that could provide the best route to profit.

The hosts kick off a goal in arrears at 8/11 with 888Sport, a wager that would have been successful in the pair’s Moscow clash but back on home soil and with a second stage place up for grabs for the Blues, they could prevail by at least three and a modest flutter on them at 2/1 (bet365) when starting from two goals behind is worth considering.

Arsenal battered Shakhtar Donetsk 5-1 at the Emirates Stadium a couple of weeks ago and they’re 8/5 favourites at to complete a double over the Ukrainian side. However, it would be dangerous to read too much into the pair’s last meeting, the Gunners have a habit of running teams ragged on their own patch in Europe and facing Mircea Lucescu’s side in the Donbass Arena is an entirely different proposition to playing them at home.

Arsene Wenger’s troops head Group H by three points and a draw wouldn’t be the end of the world so while they can avoid defeat, the Gunners look too risky to warrant a major interest.

Similarly, it’s tough to pick a winner in the mouth watering San Siro showdown between AC Milan and Real Madrid, although in-form Cristiano Ronaldo tempts at 13/8 with Coral to find the net, while most of the evening’s other matches look equally tough to call.

However, there’s a modicum of value to be had in Switzerland where Basel face Roma. The hosts ran out 3-1 winners in the Italian capital when the pair met recently and so they can obviously approach the fixture without fear and they seem overpriced at a chunky 15/8 ().

Recommended Bets:
Chelsea (-2) to beat Spartak Moscow – 2/1 (bet365)
Basel to beat Roma – 15/8 ()
