Lucky Kiwi Lands 50 Grand

A New Zealand-based Ladbrokes punter scooped almost £50,000 after his 50p Lucky 63 bet came in on the opening day of the Breeders’ Cup.

The Kiwi punter landed the windfall after completing his online accumulator for Friday night’s racing at Churchill Downs.

Amongst his selections were 12/1 winner Eldaafer in the evening’s opening race, shock 33/1 winner Shared Account, and Unrivalled Belle at 10/1 in the Ladies Classic finale.

The customer’s big win came against the grain as the bookies enjoyed the better of the first night of the $25 million meeting in the States.

David Williams of Ladbrokes said: “Our mystery Kiwi struck gold on a night when very few other punters shared his luck. We certainly enjoyed the run of the results on the opening night in Kentucky.”
