Two out of three winners for Paul Ferguson on Saturday. Today he goes for Ruthenoise in the 3:05 at Hereford and Saludos in the 3.35 at Navan.
Though only fourth at Punchestown last week, I’m keeping the faith with Saludos (3:35) who can land a competitive beginners’ chase at Navan on Sunday.
The mud loving front-runner jumped well in the main on debut 11 days ago, though he did go slightly left at times, so the configuration of the track should be in his favour, as should the testing ground.
A mistake two out put pay to his chance last time and, with that experience under his belt, he can make amends here.
Hereford stages an interesting novice hurdle, where I’ll be keen to keep an eye on Father Probus, Ballagio and Fountains Flypast, but Ruthenoise (3:05) makes more appeal from a betting perspective in the mares’ handicap.
She made her debut for Nicky Henderson after 548 days off at Market Rasen in September and she should have come on a ton for that outing.
Off the same mark, she ought to go very close for Andrew Tinkler.
3:05 Hereford: Ruthenoise
3:35 Navan: Saludos
