Can Caley Sting Gers?

Live on Skysports 4: Sat 12.45: Inverness get proceedings underway in the SPL at home to Rangers in the live Saturday lunchtime match.

Inverness are Coral’s 11/2 outsiders but the role of underdogs does not intimidate Caley, though, as they drew at Ibrox in October, which in the process made them unbeaten in their last two outings against the Glasgow giants, and Ladbrokes also flag up 5/4 for the hosts not to lose again.

Any slip-up by Rangers at Inverness will hand Celtic the chance to close the gap at the top of the SPL – assuming of course the Bhoys cope with the challenge of Kilmarnock at home where they are Betdaq’s 1/5 jollies.

It would take a brave punter to pile on at those odds, however, as Neil Lennon’s men have won just one of their last four, while Killie only lost once in six outings – and that came against Rangers.

This makes interesting reading of William Hill’s 16/5 for the underdogs to win on the handicap receiving a one-goal start, while the draw also has to be considered at Coral’s 5/1.

Motherwell face a stern test at Dundee United – a match in which make the hosts their 5/4 favourites.

A draw could be the shrewd bet here, though, as United have failed to cope with top half of the table rivals this term, winning just one of their eight encounters.

Four points from two away games is not a bad total for St Johnstone, and they will be looking to improve upon that at St Mirren where they are 888sport’s 6/4 favourites.

The pair clashed in September when Derek McInnes’ men emerged 2-1 winners, and a repeat is 10/1 with Stan James. Punters leaning in that direction, though, can take a safer route by taking Paddy Power’s 16/5 for a one-goal winning margin.

Bookies have found it hard to split bottom of the table Hamilton (8/5, Ladbrokes) and Hibernian (13/8, Betfred), who meet at New Douglas Park.

The pair were inseparable at Easter Road in September with a goal apiece, and another stalemate looks realistic at 23/10 with bet365, while both halves to finish level is a 4/1 with Totesport.

Although Aberdeen have not enjoyed a good run recently, they have an opportunity to make a fresh start at Hearts tomorrow under the guidance of Neil Simpson and Neil Cooper.

Bookies remain undecided about the Dons at Tynecastle, though, with Partybets offering 9/2 for them to return with all three points, while a well-fought draw is 11/4 (Betdaq).
