The Daily Star’s Chief Football writer, Danny Fullbrook reckons West Brom and Sunderland will clean up in the Premier League on Sunday.
West Brom v Newcastle, Sun 13.30, Live on Skysports 1
West Brom play Newcastle on Sunday and it is a difficult game to predict considering the form of these two teams. They are very up and down at the moment.
But I think The Baggies are stronger at home at the moment and after winning last weekend I feel they are likely to come out on top at 13/10 with Paddy Power. Take a look at Boylesports and the first half draw then second half a West Brom win, that comes in at 9/2.
Sunderland v West Ham, Sun 16.00, Live on Skysports 1
The other TV game on Sunday is Sunderland against West Ham. Wally Downes looks like he has already had an impact as defence coach with West Ham winning their last two games, including a midweek 4-0 thumping of Manchester United which shocked everybody.
But I think the Hammers will come crashing down to earth at the Stadium of Light. Steve Bruce’s team are a hard nut to crack there and they will prove too strong, Sunderland are 10/11 at Betfred.
Like the game before I am interested in the draw in the first half and then Sunderland winning in the second, possibly 2-1. But the first bet is 4/1 at 888sport while the correct score is 8/1 (Skybet).
Liverpool v Aston Villa, Mon 20.00, Live on Skysports 1
The biggest TV game of this extended weekend comes on Monday when Liverpool play Aston Villa at Anfield. It will be an emotional night for Villa manager Gerard Houllier who won so much with the Merseyside club, including a Cup treble of FA, Carling and the Uefa Cup. But he would have wanted to take his new side there with his squad in far greater form.
Villa are on a dreadful run at the moment so they will struggle to beat Liverpool (11/2 bet365), even if Liverpool do have a injury crisis of their own with Jamie Carragher now out for three months and Steven Gerrard still sidelined. Liverpool are too short to back at home, 4/6 at Stan James, so given the way they stuttered at Spurs it is better value to look at a draw at 14/5 (William Hill) which is still very likely.
