The Gers Are On The Up

Live on ESPN: Sun 15.00: SPL leaders Rangers feature in the live match where they are Betdaq’s 4/7 jollies to win at Motherwell (5/1, Coral).

The hosts may not have beaten the Gers since 2002, but they matched them on numerous occasions of late, where they fought out a draw in five of their last nine, and the draw this time is 3/1 with .

Interestingly, Motherwell have a superior first-half record which could see them net first at bet365’s 15/8, while their in-form Nick Blackman is 8/1 to grab the first – something he has achieved six times.

Another three points a fortnight ago has seen St Johnstone’s odds to finish bottom ease out to 14/1 with 888sport, which should allow them to relax ahead of their Boxing Day clash at second-placed Celtic (1/4, Paddy Power).

Coral go 11/1 about Saints winning, while the draw is 5/1 with Ladbrokes – and such odds for a stalemate look big considering the visitors are top of the SPL draw table with nine one-pointers. A 1-1 draw is 12/1 with Stan James, while both teams to score could tempt punters to double their investment at 21/20 (Totesport).

Third-placed Hearts are 6/4 (Coral) to win at Kilmarnock (19/10, bet365) and gain revenge for a 3-0 home drubbing by Killie on Halloween. The Jambos have improved since, though, and could take this combined with two goals or less in 90 minutes at 14/5 (Partybets).

Dundee United still linger in the wrong half of the table and will be keen to take all three points at home to Hamilton (9/2, Totesport), where they are Betfred’s 4/6 favourites. United have beaten the Accies 1-0 in two of their last three encounters and a repeat is 6/1 with Stan James.

A new dawn awaits Aberdeen under Craig Brown and Archie Knox, who travel to Hibernian on Boxing Day, where they are 4/1 with Coral to triumph.

An away win could be on the cards too, as the home side go into the match without a win in their last three games, during which time they conceded six.
Therefore, the visitors should get their chances are 15/8 with bet365 to net first, which may also see them in front at the interval at 9/2 (Stan James).

Fourth place in the SPL approaching 2011 will please Inverness supporters who can still get 7/1 with Totesport about them winning the SPL without the Old Firm – not bad odds considering they are just six points behind Hearts.

However, Terry Butcher’s men will need to dispose of St Mirren at home first, although 888sport can see all three points going the hosts way in quoting them at 4/6 jollies, where the draw is 12/5 (William Hill).
