Two To Follow On Tuesday

Paul Ferguson has two selections over the jumps for us on Tuesday; Cooldine in the 2.35 at Leopardstown and Master Fiddle in the 3.15 at Ffos Las.

It’s great to have turf racing back at Ffos Las on Tuesday and the best bet on the card is Master Fiddle (3:15) in the Eileen Rees Birthday Maiden Hurdle.

Though he is bred to want further than this 2m trip, the son of Alflora is still fancied to make a winning debut over timber, having shown plenty of promise when beating Dixie Bull in a Market Rasen bumper in March.

The runner-up was in the process of running a massive race on his hurdles debut and only subsequent start to date, before falling at the last in a race won by the selection’s stable-mate Kid Cassidy at Newbury’s Hennessy meeting.

Over in Ireland it is hoped that Leopardstown beats a 7:30am inspection and, if successful, Cooldine (2:35) can land the feature Grade 1 Lexus Chase.

Rather frustrating to follow since his RSA Chase win in March 2009 (not won since), everything looks right for him here and, if he is to land a big prize this season, this looks to be his day.

His form ties in closely with Joncol, but he ran disappointingly on his return at Navan last month and needs to bounce back.

The selection needs to reverse recent form with stable-companion J’y Vole but, with that run under his belt and this longer trip more to his liking, Cooldine is fancied to do so.

Tuesday’s selections:

2:35 Leopardstown:  Cooldine

3:15 Ffos Las: Master Fiddle
