Danny Fullbrook’s TV Tips

The Daily Star’s Chief Football writer, Danny Fullbrook, gives his verdict on this weekend’s televised matches in the Premier League.

Wolves v Liverpool, Sat 22nd Jan, 12.45, Skysports 2
According to the new Liverpool chief executive, Kenny dalglish has done such a good job since taking over from Roy Hodgson that he deserves to be considered as a permanent replacement for the former Fulham man who is still currently manager of the year.

That is what you get these days for one point from a possible six and being knocked out of the FA Cup. Normally you would expect Liverpool to beat the likes of Wolves away (11/8, William Hill), but this is no normal season, and nothing can be guaranteed.

Wolves beat Chelsea at home the other day so they will be thinking Liverpool will be chicken feed. And while that is not the case, put them under pressure and they will crumble. On that basis I think it will be a draw, which outright is 9/4 with Ladbrokes, and not that much of a risk, while 1-1 – which I fancy, is 11/2 with Stan James while 0-0 is 8/1 (bet365).

Aston Villa v Man City, Sat 22nd Jan, 17.30, ESPN
Saturday night is Aston Villa v Manchester City which is made more interesting now by Darren Bent’s expected debut. His arrival will make Villa stronger but I still do not get it and to suggest he left Sunderland for anything else than money is just rubbish.

City (11/10, Betfred) are playing well though and a 2-1 win away from home comes in at 9/1 with Paddy Power, while draw/city half-time/full-time is a teasing 9/2 at William Hill.

Blackburn v West Brom, Sun 23rd Jan, 16.00, Skysports 1
The Sunday football is not exactly tantalising but every Premier League game at the moment has an impact so Blackburn against West Brom will effect relegation.

I expect Roque Santa Cruz to start which will give his side a real lift and provide a solid home win which is 13/10 at , while Santa Cruz is 6/1 to score first (Blue Square) and a 3-0 win for Rovers is 22/1 at Skybet.

Bolton v Chelsea, Mon 24th Jan, 20.00, Skysports 1
The final TV game is on Monday between Bolton and Chelsea, who again will be playing catch-up by the time we get to then.

Chelsea love the Reebok because they won their first title there under Jose Mourinho with Frank Lampard scoring twice. They celebrated by poking their heads out of the coach roof.

Difficult to say corners have been turned for Chelsea and Bolton is a very tough place to go. But that feel-good factor about the place will spur Chelsea on. Mind you most other people think the same thing, considering an away win is 4/6 (Stan James).

The best value for me is Chelsea winning 2-1 which gives you 7-1 with Sportingbet. But considering how Ivanovic has been getting on the scoresheet recently, he is an attractive 20/1 (Coral), which I would take all day long.

Cheers
