Danny Fullbrook’s TV Tips

The Daily Star’s Chief Football writer, Danny Fullbrook, gives his verdict on this weekend’s televised matches in the FA Cup.

Chelsea v Everton, Sat 19th Feb, 12.30, ESPN
Chelsea against Everton is the first big game of the weekend on TV in the FA Cup, and at this rate the FA Cup is perhaps the only competition that Chelsea might have a chance of winning.

They can’t possibly carry on as poorly as they have been playing and Fernando Torres is cup tied anyway so I think Ancelotti’s side will win this game at 3/5 (William Hill), and for the moment Didier Drogba at 7/2 (bet365) to score the first goal in this game is not a bad bet when Chelsea are so short to win the game.

Man United v Crawley, Sat 19th Feb, 17.15, ITV1
There can be only one result between Crawley Town and Manchester United, even if you do try and take into account the romance of the FA Cup. Bottom line is that even with a weakened team, which United will field, Crawley Town (28/1, Coral) have gone as far as they possibly can.

But just for one moment imagine that Crawley do strike lucky and get some early momentum while United lose concentration as they have done a number of times this season in certain games.

Even if Crawley take the lead, a 7/1 chance with Stan James, United will win through, so if you back Crawley to be ahead at the end of the first half, while United then come back and win the game in the second, you can get odds of 30/1 with Paddy Power.

Man City v Notts County, Sun 20th Feb, 14.00, ITV1
Neutrals would like to see a couple of upsets if possible but they are so unlikely. Manchester City play Notts County as 2/9 favs (Betfred) on Sunday and you just can’t see how Paul ince’s team will win especially as Roberto Mancini can rotate as much as he likes and he is adamant he is going to win something this season.

Another good bet though is 4/1 (Boylesports) with a draw in the first half followed by a City win because Mancini’s team never start quickly.

Leyton Orient v Arsenal, Sun 20th Feb, 16.30, ESPN
As for Arsenal they might actually give up on the FA Cup given that they are in the Carling Cup Final but they can’t really afford to do that with any competition this season and even their youth team should be good enough to beat Leyton Orient, at 3/10 with Ladbrokes.

I fancy 3-1 Arsenal at 10/1 (888sport) which gives fans a little value.
