Spurs To Score In San Siro

Live on Sky Sports 2 & 4: Tues 19.45: AC Milan are 4/5 favourites with Stan James to beat Tottenham but Spurs can score in the San Siro.

Tottenham’s last visit to the San Siro was memorable largely for Gareth Bale’s stunning hat trick but Spurs will have to do without the injured winger as they return to the same venue to face AC Milan in the first leg of the pair’s Champions League knockout clash.

The hosts are Stan James’ 4/5 favourites to take a lead back to White Hart Lane while Harry Redknapp’s charges are 17/4 () to take giant strides towards the last eight by coming out on top in Italy.

The latter looks unlikely however, given the experience in the Rossoneri’s ranks and the best Tottenham can hope for is probably a draw, priced by bet365 at 11/4. Nevertheless, that’s not out of the question given their decent form and Spurs’ ability to get on the scoresheet in the vast majority of matches strips appeal from bets on a Milan triumph.

Since October, the North London outfit have scored in all but two of their 21 matches and those blanks came in a goalless draw against Premiership leaders Manchester United and a 4-0 FA Cup defeat at Fulham, which, given what went wrong, could just be chalked up as ‘one of those days’. They can give the home defence plenty to think about then and a strong case can be made for Coral’s 10/11 chalked against both teams finding the net.

An early goal isn’t out of the question at the San Siro and Stan James offer 11/10 for the deadlock to be broken before the 27th minute, a wager that would have been successful in Tottenham’s last four; however, taking a bit more of a risk could reap rewards. First half goals are a regular occurrence in games involving Spurs and it might be worth covering, at 2/1 (William Hill), a total of more than 1.5 in the opening stanza here.

Valencia are in decent shape domestically at present and with home advantage they’re a relatively safe bet at 3/4 () as they host Schalke 04. Tellingly, Los Che struck in the first half of all three of their group stage victories and also netted in the opening 45 minutes as they drew at Old Trafford. A modest flutter on them at 2/1 with bwin to be in front at the end of each half is therefore the eye catcher in the Mestalla.

Recommended Bets:
Both teams to score in AC Milan v Tottenham – 10/11 (Coral)
Over 1.5 goals in the first half of AC Milan v Tottenham – 2/1 (William Hill)
Valencia/Valencia in HT/FT v Schalke 04 – 2/1 (bwin)
