Danny Fullbrook’s TV Tips

The Daily Star’s Chief Football writer, Danny Fullbrook, gives his verdict on this weekend’s televised matches in the League and FA Cup.

Man City v Man United, FA Cup, Sat 16th Apr, 17.15, ITV 1
Punters are spoilt for fun this weekend when it comes to football on the TV. The biggest game of all is of course the Manchester derby which also just happens to be an FA Cup semi-final.

The loss of Carlos Tevez is simply massive for Roberto mancini’s team. He is Manchester City’s talisman and Dzeko and Balotelli just have not lived up to their reputation, but this is their chance. Their opportunity to make a difference and go down in City folklore.

Manchester United ae clear favourites at 11/10 (Boylesports) with City a decent straightforward bet of 14/5 to win the game with . That for me is a decent return, but for the noisy neighbours to win I feel they will have to score first because I don’t think they are going to be that great from coming from behind.

In that case I would put some money on either Balotelli, with the Italian at 7/1 (Ladbrokes), or David Silva, who is simply a great player, at 11/1 with bet365. City will be massive underdogs but backing United is just no fun at all, plus I would never forgive myself.

Bolton v Stoke, FA Cup, Sun 17th Apr, 16.00, ESPN
The other semi-final is not as glamorous but just as vital to the supporters of Stoke and Bolton.

This is very tough to call, but the big pitch at Wembley could make life more difficult for Stoke and might just give Bolton the edge. I feel Owen Coyle’s side have a more complete team and are better suited to win this game with old warhorse Kevin Davies leading the way.

Bolton are favourites with Betdaq at 2.6 (8/5), but only just with Stoke at 15/8 (Betfred). I will take both teams to score (10/11, William Hill) but Bolton to come out as 2-1 winners which will give you odds of 10/1 (Paddy Power), while if you take a chance on 3-1 you get 20/1 a Totesport.

Arsenal v Liverpool, Prem Lge, Sun 17th Apr, 16.00, SS1
At the same time on Sunday though Arsenal will be kicking off at the Emirates. It is a must win game for the Gunners, they are 3/4 with Blue Square, but they have hardly been that great at those in the last few weeks.

I have had my fingers burned tipping Arsenal in recent weeks in games against Sunderland and Blackburn, although I was spot on with the Blackpool game. I know that Liverpool were in great form against Manchester City, but I just feel that Arsene Wenger’s team will pull this off and will win this game 2-0 which is a best price 15/2 with Skybet.

Happy Punting

Cheers

Danny
