Get On Sandown Trio On Saturday

Paul Ferguson has three selections for us on Saturday – all at Sandown; King Of The Night (2.05), Tataniano (2.35) and Dick Turpin (3.45). Compare odds

Though he has been absent for the majority of the season Tataniano (2:35) is fancied to land the Grade 2 Bet365.com Celebration Chase at Sandown this afternoon.

The seven-year-old is at his best on spring ground, as he proved when bolting up in the Grade 1 Maghull Novices’ Chase at Aintree a year ago, and he can return to winning ways now he is over the muscle injury that has kept him sidelined throughout the winter.

Paul Nicholls and Ruby Walsh could well be in for a big day as King Of The Night (2:05) is another with strong claims in the Bet365 Handicap Hurdle.

He is another who relishes quick ground and is fancied to bounce back from a nasty looking fall at the Cheltenham Festival, when he was still travelling strongly (albeit some way from home) in the Martin Pipe.

The seven-year-old earlier beat the useful Basford Bob at Doncaster and, on his hurdles debut, ran away with a Cheltenham maiden hurdle.  Going back to last term, he went down by just a nose to the top-class Sprinter Sacre in an Ascot bumper and the 7/2 with Ladbrokes is worth taking.

The first Flat race on the mixed card, the Group 2 Bet365 Mile, has been a Richard Hannon benefit in recent years and Dick Turpin (3:45) can land the fourth straight running of the contest for the trainer.

Hannon, who also won this in 2004 and 2005 with Hurricane Alan, has started the season well and looks to have found the ideal opportunity for his four-year-old colt.

The son of Arakan handles easier ground, but proved he is equally at home on a quicker surface when runner-up in the 2,000 Guineas last year, and he won on his seasonal debut at both two and three.

Saturday’s selections:

2:05 Sandown: King Of The Night (7/2 Lads)

2:35 Sandown: Tataniano (11/8 Hills)

3:45 Sandown:Dick Turpin (5/6 Paddy Power / )
