Get With Graham At Elland Road

In the Championship, Leeds United welcome Watford to Elland Road and the Yorkshire club are William Hill’s 4/5 favs to win.

Leeds’ defeat to Derby in midweek made their grip on the final Championship play-off place all the more precarious but they’re William Hill’s 4/5 favourites to boost their hopes of a top six finish by collecting three points at Watford’s expense as the pair face off at Elland Road.

The Whites should come out on top but the rate at which they concede is a worry and as the Hornets are the Championship’s joint highest away scorers, it could be worth swerving the match result market to cash-in on goals.

Totesport offer 3/4 for both teams to find the net, which looks a banker and Sportingbet’s slightly skinnier 8/11 for the contest to produce three or more goals also appears to be a safe bet but it’s a more specific flutter that catches the eye in West Yorkshire.

Watford striker Danny Graham has enjoyed a tremendous season, notching 24 times in 40 league games for Malky Mackay’s men and with eight in his last nine, he heads north in a rich vein of form. In addition, Graham will undoubtedly be given chances in this one given the hosts’ leaky defence and he’s a cracking 23/10 with Boylesports to find the net.

Cardiff can do their promotion chances the power of good by beating Portsmouth, a result available with William Hill at 7/10. The Bluebirds were going through something of a sticky patch, enjoying a somewhat indifferent March but they have returned to form at the perfect time, registering three wins in a row to leap back into second spot.

The emphatic scorelines – 4-1, 3-1 and 2-0 – in those victories, bode well for Dave Jones’ side ahead of this one and against a Pompey side beaten 3-0 at home by Coventry last time out and with just one win in six to their name, Cardiff are decent value in 888Sport’s handicap market where they kick-off a goal in arrears at odds of 15/8.

As two of the bottom three, Preston and Sheffield United meet at Deepdale, Crystal Palace can take huge strides towards safety if they beat the other team in the drop zone, Scunthorpe, at Selhurst Park.

The Iron have lost two out of three under new boss Alan Knill, somehow hammering leaders QPR 4-1 in between those defeats but aside from that shock success, they tend to struggle to score and as the Eagles tend to be strong on their own patch, a home win (5/6, Betfred) looks the pick in this one while braver punters can factor in the visitors’ goal-shy attack and side with a Palace victory ‘to nil’ at 21/10 with Paddy Power.

Recommended Bets:
Danny Graham to score at any time for Watford at Leeds – 23/10 (Boylesports)
Cardiff (-1) to beat Portsmouth – 15/8 (888Sport)
Crystal Palace to beat Scunthorpe ’to nil’ – 21/10 (Paddy Power)
