Take Bated Breath & Global Fella

Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Saturday; Bated Breath in the 2.35 at Doncaster and Global Fella in the 6.05 at Chepstow.  Compare today’s horse racing odds.

Though the official Flat season kicked off at Catterick during the week, the Lincoln at Doncaster signals the start for many and today’s big race looks as competitive as ever.

The best bet on the card comes in the previous race, the Listed Cammidge Trophy, which can go the way of Bated Breath (2:35) for Roger Charlton and Steve Drowne.

Un-raced as a juvenile, the son of Dansili made a big impact in the first half of last season, before twice being beaten on easy ground at Newmarket during August.

Therefore, hopefully the rain stays away, which will allow the Khalid Abdulla-owned colt to strut his stuff before going on to make up in to a Group class sprinter later on in the campaign.

The day’s jumps action isn’t overly exciting, though the race of the day in the National Hunt sphere looks to be the concluding bumper at Chepstow, which features any number of potentially smart sorts.

The Sky+ should be set for this event, as this race could throw up plenty of future winners, but the one to be on today is Nicky Henderson’s Global Fella (6:05) who ran a race full of promise on debut at Newbury four weeks ago.

The six-year-old looked stable third-string on jockey bookings and according to the betting, but he travelled really well and probably only lost the race down to inexperience.  If he steps forward, he could take a bit of stopping and as the race looks really competitive the betting should reflect this.

Saturday’s selections:

2:35 Doncaster: Bated Breath (7/2 Coral)

6:05 Chepstow: Global Fella (9/4 Sportingbet)
