Chelsea To Come Away Winners

The Daily Star’s Chief Football writer, Danny Fullbrook, reckons Chelsea will do the damage at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

Wolves v West Brom, Sun 8th May, 12.00, Skysports 1
West brom will do everything they can to try and send Wolves down with a win (12/5, Paddy Power). Roy Hodgson has done a fantastic job turning the Baggies around but this might be a game too far.

West Brom’s win over Aston Villa has made them safe while Wolves are fighting for their lives and that should be enough to earn Mick McArthy’s men a home win, a 6/5 shot with Blue Square.

Stoke v Arsenal, Sun 8th May, 14.05, Skysports 1
Before the Man United and Chelsea game on Sunday, Arsenal will play Stoke at the Britannia Stadium where they will look to follow up their win over United with another at 8/11 (Betfred).

But the Gunners on the road are a poor imitation of themselves as shown by their recent defeat by Bolton. The Stoke players will be battling to make sure they are in the FA Cup Final side a week later and I think they will be motivated to get a draw (11/4, Skybet) and keep their form going.

On that basis go for a 1-1 which is 6/1 with Boylesports, or just a basic draw which is a good bet on its own.

Man Utd v Chelsea, Sun 8th May, 16.10, Skysports 1
The massive game of the weekend really does not need any billing. Manchester United against Chelsea is a winner takes all battle.

Now, United’s home record, where they have won 16 out of 17 games, and drawn the other one, suggest that there should be no other result other than a win for Sir Alex Ferguson’s team (7/5 with Coral). But at the same time Chelsea managed to win at Old Trafford last season and they are on a brilliant run themselves which has seen them take 25 points from a possible 27 in the last nine games.

Chelsea are a force to be reckoned with, and on that basis I have a hunch that they will win this game. To be honest you have to take a gamble on how you feel for this game. The safe bet is on United of course, or even a draw, but Chelsea are 9/4 with William Hill to win the game.

But for me the 2-1 away win is the type of result you can see happening and the odds are 11/1 with Betfred which is good value. For me Didier Drogba will start up front rather than Fernando Torres, so lump on the big Ivory Coast striker to score at anytime in the game at 2/1 (Paddy Power).

Fulham v Liverpool, Mon 9th May, 20.00, Skysports 1
Liverpool have been on fire recently wth a host of 3-0 wins to their name, but Fulham are no joke at home where they are unbeaten in the league since Boxing Day.

Both sides are free from pressure but Fulham’s players are trying to impress for new contracts and a home win is on the cards where they are 2/1 to win (), while a draw in the first half with Fulham winning the second is 6/1 (Coral) and perhaps the best bet.
