Danny Fullbrook’s TV Tips

The Daily Star’s Chief Football writer, Danny Fullbrook, gives his verdict on the FA Cup final and televised matches in the Premier League.

Blackburn v Man United, Sat 14th May, 12.45, Skysports 2
It is a bumper weekend of football with so many things being decided. It’s bit bizarre that the title and the FA cup can be wrapped up on the same weekend but it has been a strange season.

Manchester united go to Ewood Park looking for a point (13/5, ) against Blackburn for their 19th Championship. But in my opinion they will get all three, a 3/4 chance with William Hill. Dodgy on the road perhaps, but not on this occasion and they will wrap things up at 2-0 which you can get at 7/1 (bet365) and is a good shout for me.

Man City v Stoke, Sat 14th May, 15.00, ITV1/ESPN
Then of course we move onto the real main event because the title was effectively won against Chelsea to tell you the truth. Manchester City against Stoke at Wembley. Roberto Mancini’s team are rightly favourites at 10/11 with Betfred and you have to think that they simply can’t pass up this opportunity to end their long trophy drought.

I think that Stoke probably put in their performance of their lives in the semi when they beat Bolton 5-0 and this might be a game too far for them. It will be tight though and I fancy a draw at half-time with Manchester City going on to win which will be 7/2 (Stan James) and quite a safe bet, if you can talk about such a thing involving Manchester City.

I also think that Mario Balotelli will play so I fancy him to score at some point which will be 9/5 with Paddy Power.

Chelsea v Newcastle, Sun 15th May, 13.30, Skysports 1
Sunday will be a little bit of a let down in TV terms but something to bet on. Chelsea against Newcastle will be a bit of a damp squib but Chelsea will not let a home game pass at this point especially as it will be their last of the season

I think they will win this one fairly comfortably, they are only 1/4 with Boylesports, even as much as 3-0 which comes in at 7/1 (Totesport) but I can’t let the fact go though that Newcastle are 14/1 with Coral to win in a two horse race which seems a little big to me just in case Chelsea are not interested, but perhaps the bookies have it right.

Arsenal v Aston Villa, Sun 15th May, 16.00, Skysports 1
Arsenal against Aston Villa will be like a wake at the Emirates and that is how it could finish with Villa actually getting an away win to really end Arsenal’s season on misery. Take a little bit of 9/1 on them to win away with which is great value considering Arsenal have collapsed.
