Rangers To Push On

Live on Skysports 4: Sat 12.15 & 12.45: After Celtic’s slip-up, Rangers are 3/10 (Totesport) to beat Hearts and extend their SPL lead.

Rangers host third-placed Hearts in what will prove a big test of character for the Glasgow giants in Saturday’s televised lunchtime SPL kick-off in which they are Totesport’s red-hot 3/10 jollies to land an essential three points.

Only one goal split these sides on three previous meetings this season, with Rangers coming out best twice, and they are 14/5 with Partybets to come out in front by a one-goal margin once again. Meanwhile, more accurate punters aiming for a correct-score may take Sportingbet’s 15/2 for a 2-1 home victory, bearing in mind that Hearts got on the scoresheet with 11 goals in their last six games.

Nikica Jelavic is William Hill’s 11/4 favourite to score the opener at Ibrox, although odds-on punters can get 4/7 via for him netting at any stage.

Gers’ fans will have to wait 24 hours to see if Celtic can keep up the pressure for the title race at Kilmarnock in Sunday lunchtime’s televised clash.

The Bhoys will have good recent memories of visiting Rugby Park as they emerged 4-0 winners here only a fortnight ago, and are 11/1 to repeat that scoreline with Ladbrokes. A safer bet, however, may come via Paddy Power’s 11/10 for the visitors winning ‘to nil’, while Kris Commons has struck with regularity since joining Celtic in January and is 7/2 wit Sportingbet to hit the opener.

Fourth-placed Dundee United will be looking to make up ground on Hearts should the Edinburgh side go down at Rangers, and are 10/11 courtesy of Betfred to see off sixth-placed Motherwell (3/1, bet365).

These two know plenty about each other having already met six times this season, where the head-to-head score remains 4-1 to Motherwell. However, all four of those victories came at Fir Park, so United may get to hit back at Tannadice where a 2-1 win is 13/2 (Stan James). Draw-backers looking for them to share the points, however, can get 11/5 with Coral.

A draw may also be on the cards at 3.1 (21/10) with Betdaq when Hamilton take on Hibernian at Hamilton Park (7/4, ), a match where the hosts are Ladbrokes’ 7/5 favourites to land an essential three points in a bid to stay up.

Aberdeen got back on the winning trail last weekend and can carry that momentum into their home encounter with St Johnstone in which they are Coral’s 11/10 favourites, and where the draw is 9/4 (Betfred).

Meanwhile, Inverness are still in the hunt for that vital sixth-spot in the SPL following their gutsy 3-2 win over Celtic on Wednesday, and are well fancied with Betdaq at 2.1 (11/10) to see off St Mirren tomorrow.

St Mirren are in increasing danger of being dragged into a tense battle for relegation following their defeat to bottom-placed Hamilton, so with the visitors’ confidence in shatters, Caley are good odds at bet365’s 5/2 to dominate by leading at the end of both halves.
