Paul Ferguson has two selections at Ascot on Tuesday; Sajjha in the 3.05 and Shumoos at 5.00.The double pays 10/1 Compare odds
Frankie Detorri rides Ascot as well as anyone and the lovable Italian is the right man to get the tactics right aboard Sajjha (3:05) this afternoon in the Group 2 Windsor Forest Stakes.
A Group 3 winner for Michael Jarvis last season, the King’s Best filly now carries the Royal Blue of Godolphin and she ran a cracker on her debut for current connections at York last month. Runner-up to the top-class Midday in the Middleton Stakes, she pulled 4 lengths clear of Timepiece in third and she franked the form by winning at Warwick on Monday night.
Sajjha has won over further and likes to dictate matters, so Detorri will need to get the fractions right, but given he is at his best when riding the Berkshire track, Sajjha is worth backing at 4/1 with William Hill.
Later on the card Shumoos (5:00) should be hard to beat in the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes, with the form of her maiden win being given a massive boost yesterday.
Brian Meehan’s filly beat Frederick Engels by an easy 4½ lengths at Haydock on debut, in the manner of a high-class juvenile, and the runner-up took the closing Windsor Castle Stakes on day one.
Due to the timely form boost, she is likely to prove very popular indeed and the 11/8 with Ladbrokes ought to be taken.
