Live on Skysports 1: Sat 19.00: At 1/18, Phil Taylor is very short to beat Andy Hamilton, the latter evens with a +7.5 handicap (Skybet).
Phil Taylor stormed into the World Matchplay semi finals after destroying Wes Newton 16 legs to 5, made more remarkable by the fact that he trailed Newton 4-1 in the early stages. Taylor is now just 1/18 () to beat off the challenge of Andy Hamilton and 4/9 (Blue Square) to win the tournament outright.
Hamilton, 12/1 at Sportingbet just to win this match, had a remarkable quarter of his own, snatching victory from the jaws of defeat as he turned over Simon Whitlock 17-15 from 15-8 down and will have bags of motivation coming into the semi. Skybet lend Hamilton 7.5 legs and make him evens to win with them, meaning Hamilton can lose 17-10 and still payout. It’s a decent size handicap, even if Taylor does win comfortably.
Both came through the quarter with very nearly the same score, against similar calibre opponents, and preference just goes to World Champion Adrian Lewis after he threw down some impressive checkouts against Barney in the quarters. A 17-15 win for Lewis is 12/1 (Boylesports).
