Danny Fullbrook’s TV Tips

The Daily Star’s Chief Football writer, Danny Fullbrook, gives his verdict on the four televised Premier League fixtures this weekend.

Arsenal v Liverpool, Sat 20th, 12.45, Skysports 2
It was almost unthinkable that the Newcastle against Arsenal game ended goaless last week. I will be forced to eat my blackberry if there are no goals between the Gunners and Liverpool this weekend. I just can’t see how two slightly dodgy defences will be able to hold out.

The Gunners have already picked up injuries while Kenny Dalglish’s team are just bad at letting in goals at the moment and should have thumped Sunderland last week. On this basis I am putting my neck on the line and am going for a draw, 9/4 Totesport, and in particular a 2-2 scoreline – 16/1 with William Hill.

If I am right, it is going to be one hell of a game. For me the most likely goalscorers are Robin van Persie (11/8 anytime, Boylesports) and Charlie Adam (9/2 anytime, Skybet), but I think the Dutchman will start scoring soon so I have him down as first goalscorer at 9/2 with .

Chelsea v West Brom, Sat 20th, 17.30, ESPN
A draw between Arsenal and Liverpool would suit the other challengers for the title, especially Chelsea, who have lost Petr Cech this week to injury, so that could cause a problem at the back for them.

West Brom were hammered by Chelsea at the start of last season in the opening game, and although Chelsea stuttered last week against Stoke I can’t see that happening again in their first home game of the season. I feel they could quite easily hit the ground running and are jus 1.33 (1/3) with Betdaq to win.

On that basis I am just convinced that Fernando Torres will score (9/10 anytime, Unibet) and the scoreline is likely to be 3-1 (10/1 with Sportingbet) because there is part of me that thinks Chelsea will concede a goal with perhaps Hilario between the sticks.

Bolton v Man City, Sun 21st, 16.00, Skysports 1
The rest of the TV football across the weekend comes down to Manchester.

To think that after hammering Swansea, Man city still have Carlos Tevez and Mario Balotelli to come into the team. On that basis alone you have to fear for Bolton (4/1, Ladbrokes) but the Reebok is a tough place to go and City might find it harder than they think, but an away win is still on the cards, 5/6 with Betfred, and a 2-1 win at that (15/2 with bet365).

Man United v Tottenham, Mon 22nd, 20.00, Skysports 1
Man Utd play Tottenham on Monday night, the home side 4/6 favs with YouWin, with Spurs looking to build on their 5-0 thrashing of Hearts. Harry Redknapp’s men will not lose this game because they have started well, but also they never win at Old Trafford either. A draw is on the cards at 14/5 (Totesport).

Defensive problems for United make this a tricky game so I reckon we are looking at a 1-1 draw (7/1, Coral) with Rooney scoring for United (9/2 first goal, or 11/10 anytime, Blue Square). This lot would be an incredible set of results, so fingers crossed.
