The Daily Star’s Chief Football writer, Danny Fullbrook, reckons Chelsea will struggle but Man United should get off to a flyer.
Stoke v Chelsea, Sun 14th, 13.30, Skysports 1
Chelsea and Champions Manchester United both have to wait until Sunday to get started.
Andre Villas Boas’ first game is at Stoke and what a baptism of fire that will be. It is unclear what his starting line-up will be and it is amazing to think there has been no big name signing.
The Britannia is a tough place to go and I think this will end up as a draw, 14/5 with Boylesports, and a 1-1 at that (13/2, Skybet) with old faithful Frank Lampard getting on the scoresheet; he is 15/8 (Stan James) to notch anytime while Coral have 6/1 about him getting the opener.
West Brom v Manchester United, Sun 14th, 16.00, Skysports 1
Manchester United could take immediate advantage with a well oiled side starting out against West Brom.
Manchester City v Swansea, Mon 15th, 20.00, Skysports 1
Premier League newboys Swansea will have to wait until Monday night to get going when they will take on Manchester City.
For me Sergio Aguero is a brilliant signing and City will make a flying start to their campaign as 2/7 favs with William Hill. I expect Swansea to be nervous and they could be swept away 3-0 by Roberto Mancini’s team, something Totesport price up at 7/1.
