Danny Fullbrook’s TV Tips

The Daily Star’s Chief Football writer, Danny Fullbrook, gives his verdict on the four televised Premier League fixtures this weekend.

Man City v Everton, Sat 24th, 12.45, Skysports 2
City are first up this weekend as they play against Everton as Boylesports’ 4/9 home favourites.

They tripped themselves up last week by letting a two goal lead against Fulham slip and you just know that Roberto Mancini will not allow that to happen again. I fear for Everton. There will be a hatful of goals and four or more in the game must be a bet at a bumper 2/1 with William Hill and I fancy Dzeko to get back onto the scoresheet (21/20 anytime, ), although I also think that Everton will score. Ladbrokes go evens for both teams to net.

Man United v Stoke, Sat 24th, 17.30, ESPN
Of all the TV games this weekend Stoke against Manchester United is the biggest. It looked like the Champions faced up to their biggest game so far of the season against Chelsea last weekend. But in reality Stoke at the Britannia can be just as tough.

The Potters played 120 minutes in the Carling Cup in midweek though so they will be far from fresh although I am sure they will be making some changes. United had an easier game against Leeds and although Chicarito might be back for this game, I am not sure it is one for him and Dimitar Berbatov or perhaps the free-scoring Michael Owen (15/8 to score anytime with Boylesports) might be a better option.

United have won six out of six so far and if there is anywhere they are going to trip up it is away against a side like Stoke, who are 6/1 with Betfred to snatch a win. On that basis I feel that they will get a 1-1 draw, 7/1 with Sportingbet, which could offer a shimmer of light to Manchester City and Chelsea, with probably Rooney scoring (10/11 anytime, Coral) and perhaps Peter Crouch (10/3 anytime, William Hill).

QPR v Aston Villa, Sun 25th, 16.00, Skysports 1
On Sunday QPR take centre stage and they are just wonderful to watch at the moment, Ladbrokes making them 11/8 to win. It willl be a bit tougher though against Villa who are a well drilled side under Alex McLeish.

But in reality I think that they will win 2-1 at home if they can get their shooting boots on, which is 8/1 with Totesport, and it is about time Adel Taarabt scored in the Premier League, he is 7/1 with Paddy Power to open up proceedings.

Norwich v Sunderland, Mon 26th, 20.00, Skysports 1
Monday night football is Norwich against Sunderland which might not bring in that many neutrals. Steve Bruce has overhauled his Sunderland side this summer and I think they will win this game and get two wins in a row, Betfred making them 2/1 chances to do so.

Paul Lambert’s team have settled well but they will go up and down as newly promoted teams do, so a 2-1 win away for the Black Cats (11/1, Totesport) with Nick Bendtner actually grabbing a goal (2/1 anytime, Stan James).
