The Daily Star’s Chief Football writer, Danny Fullbrook, gives his verdict on the four televised Premier League fixtures this weekend.
Newcastle v Everton, Sat 5th, 12.45, Skysports 2
Another TV apperance for Newcastle and QPR this week who must be getting used to it. But it is the Toon army who appear first with their early Saturday lunchtime kick off at home.
Everton won their last away game at Fulham but they were poor and scored twice in the 90th minute after being let off the hook by Bobby Zamora. I fancy Alan Pardew’s team at 13/10 (Stan James) after a great start and they could quite easily win this game 2-0 (9/1, Sportingbet) with prerhaps Ba grabbing the first (11/2, Skybet) with the form he has been in.
QPR v Man City, Sat 5th, 17.30, ESPN
Then, on Saturday night, Man City take on QPR at Loftus Road. It is a tough place to go to but at the same time Man City can deal with these sort of things. The really difficult thing is knowing the team that Roberto Mancini will put out. One has to feel Mario Balotelli is the most likely so I would have him to score at any point, 11/10 with Boylesports, in a 2-0 away win, priced up at 6/1 with Coral.
Wolves v Wigan, Sun 6th, 13.40, Skysports 1
Wolves play Wigan early on Sunday as Coral’s 10/11 favs and both teams are in a lot of bother at the moment so this is a real six-pointer now. I always expected Wigan to go down this season but not Wolves so I expect this to be a narrow home win for Wolves, maybe 2-1 (8/1, Ladbrokes).
Fulham v Tottenham, Sun 6th, 16.00, Skysports 1
Fulham take on Spurs at the Cottage in a London derby. Historically Fulham are poor at home against Spurs but I can’t see them losing two games at home in a row so I feel this will either be a win for Fulham, 23/10 with , or more likely a 1-1 draw (6/1, William Hill) with Zamora and Adebayor scoring. They are 15/2 and 11/2 respectively at to open the scoring. Coral go 8/13 for Fulham not to lose.
