Danny Fullbrook’s TV Tips

The Daily Star’s Chief Football writer, Danny Fullbrook, gives his verdict on the four televised Premier League fixtures this weekend.

Norwich v Arsenal, Sat 19th, 12.45, Skysports 2
The early game is on Saturday and by contrast to United this is the type of game that Arsenal have struggled with in the past. They are going down to see Norwich City at Carrow Road which could prove a very dangerous fixture. But stupidly I probably have faith in Arsenal, 8/11 with Betdaq, at the moment and the form they are in so I think they will eek out a 1-0 away win from this game, 9/1 with bet365.

Swansea v Man United, Sat 19th, 17.30, ESPN
For me it is United who are best equipped from the big guns to actually deal with games like this, they are 8/15 with Betfred to take all the points.

Swansea City are a good passing team and will cause United trouble, but with Wayne Rooney desperate to get back into action after being forced out of the two England games, I think they will win 2-1 (8/1, Ladbrokes) with possibly Rooney getting both of the goals for the champions – he is 11/10 with Blue Square to get on the scoresheet and 6/1 with the same firm for a double.

Chelsea v Liverpool, Sun 20th, 16.00, Skysports 1
Chelsea against Liverpool is the stand out game of this weekend and hits the box at 4pm on Sunday.

In a lot of ways it will be nice for the Chelsea players to get back to familiar grounds for themselves given the controversy surrounding John Terry with England. But surprisingly for me, this should be a fairly straight forward game as far as I am concerned and Chelsea are 10/11 with Stan James to win.

Liverpool just have not made the strides that I would have expected from them at the start of the season and a lot of that comes down to their new signings.

For me both Andy Carroll and Jordan Henderson have been a disaster and they have not really helped much with Carroll failing to really fit in, while Henderson and Charlie Adam have struggled with the goals which might have been expected from them. On that basis with the form Chelsea are in and some of the goals they have been scoring I expect them to run out 2-0 fairly easy winners at home, 8/1 with William Hill, with once against Frank Lampard as first goalscorer, a cracking 7/1 at Skybet.

Tottenham v Aston Villa, Mon 21st, 20.00, Skysports 1
The last fixture to look at is Tottenham against Villa on Monday night which should be an attractive game. Villa are tough to beat at the moment and while Spurs take their goals well they were battered by Fulham last time around despite actually winning.

A lot will depend on Gabby Agbonlahor’s fitness but he should be back by now and I feel that his combination with Darren Bent is vital for Villa. I see a draw, 10/3 with Ladbrokes, and in particular a 1-1 from this fixture (8/1 with William Hill) which will probably help neither club at the moment.
