The Daily Star’s Chief Football writer, Danny Fullbrook, gives his verdict on the four televised Premier League fixtures this weekend.
Wigan v Chelsea, Sat 17th, 17.30, ESPN
Chelsea play Wigan and I think you should lump on a big win for the London side.
I just feel they will be too strong and hungry for Roberto Martinez’s team and I think that they will make mincemeat out of them. I mean, this could even be a game in which Fernando Torres scores, Boylesports make him evens to net anytime. Take a look at as much as 4-0 (20/1, Betfred) for this fixture which could bring in a tidy little sum. Chelsea to win by three or more is 13/5 at Paddy Power.
QPR v Man United, Sun 18th, 12.00, Skysports 1
Well Manchester United could actually be back on top of the Premier league by the time they finish their game against QPR on Sunday early and that is something I do not believe that they will want to miss out on.
Their injury problems are a massive headache for Sir Alex Ferguson with Darren Fletcher now ruled out in the centre of midfield so Phil Jones is going to have to carry on playing in there perhaps with Ryan Giggs. It means that the team will have to be packed with attackers so the game should be an interesting one. Chelsea found it hard to play at Loftus Road and so have Newcastle when they were flying and Manchester City did not find it that easy, but I reckon a one goal margin will be enough for United, 11/4 with Ladbrokes, with Wayne Rooney the man who will be on song, he is 10/3 to score first (bet365).
Aston Villa v Liverpool, Sun 18th, 14.05, Skysports 1
It is a big weekend for TV games with Villa also playing against Liverpool at Villa park. Villa have been dreadful in recent weeks, but then again at times so have Liverpool and I am not sure that Kenny Dalglish’s team have the guile to cut them open more than once in the game. 0-0 (9/1, Stan James) is a bit boring so take a look at 1-1, chalked up at 6/1 at William Hill.
Man City v Arsenal, Sun 18th, 16.10, Skysports 1
The last game of the weekend is of course the biggest and the one which will be talked about the most. Arsenal against Manchester City at the Etihad, the home team the 3/4 favs with .
Arsenal have been on such a great run and they are the only team which can match City for the quality of their football. Then again City will really be smarting from losing their first game and they know they can’t afford to allow this to end up in a slide. I think they will attack from all angles with Aguero scoring first (5/1, Skybet) in a 3-1 win for City, a 12/1 chance at Coral.
