Danny Fullbrook’s TV Tips

The Daily Star’s Chief Football writer, Danny Fullbrook, gives his verdict on the four TV Premier League fixtures this weekend.

Man City v Fulham, Sat 4th Feb, 17.30, ESPN
The biggest game of this weekend is of course the match at Stamford Bridge on Sunday but before that game Manchester City will already have played on Saturday night against Fulham and therefore will have the opportunity to create a three point lead for themselves at the top of the Premier League, William Hill making them just 1/3 to win.

They were very poor against Everton last Tuesday and at times look to be lacking direction in this title race. Fulham, 11/1 at Ladbrokes though are hardly a massive threat on the road, but they do have a good record against City. Roberto Mancini’s team though are likely to bounce back, and while they will probably concede with Clint Dempsey on fire, a 2-1 home win is on the cards for City, available at 17/2 at bet365 while Dempsey is 7/2 to score at any point (Ladbrokes).

Newcastle v Aston Villa, Sun 5th Feb, 13.30, Skysports 1
To Sunday and it’s Newcastle at home to Aston Villa. Alex McLeish’s side produced a great comeback against QPR at home in mkidweek, but apart from how they played against Arsenal in the FA Cup, have historically been slow starters in games, and because of that I fear for them up at Newcastle where the Toon are 23/20 to win (BetVictor).

I think this has another draw written all over it at 12/5 (Betfred) and this time it could be 0-0 which is a bumper 12/1 with Skybet.

Chelsea v Man United, Sun 5th Feb, 16.00, Skysports 1
Chelsea v Manchester United, one of the toughest games of the season, and Sir Alex Ferguson knows that his team will have to up their games. He expects to have the likes of Wayne Rooney and Nani back at his disposal, as well as Tom Cleverley.

But the bottom line is that United have not won an away game against Chelsea since 2004 which highlights how tough this will be for them, Coral making United 19/10 for victory. The fact is though that Chelsea are hardly playing that well and you would not really expect them to win this game, 13/8 at BetVictor.

But they are battlers and seem to eke out draws and that is how I think this game will finish, 23/10 courtesy of Stan James. For me this is going to be 1-1 (6/1, Coral) with perhaps Rooney scoring first for United – he is 6/1 to notch first (Blue Square).

Tottenham v Liverpool, Mon 6th Feb, 20.00, Skysports 1
The final game is on Monday night when Spurs take on Liverpool at Anfield. It is a big battle for the fourth place and perhaps the Europa League place.

Both teams are now in good form after they way that Liverpool bounced back from defeat to Bolton by getting past Manchester City, Manchester United in the FA Cup and then Wolves in midweek. But Spurs are the most exciting attacking team in the Premier League and they could have enough in the bag to beat Liverpool as Skybet’s 11/4 away outsiders, especially if Bale and perhaps Defoe are fit. I fancy Spotingbet’s 11/1 on a 2-1 win with Bale opening the scoring at 11/1 (William Hill) for Spurs
