4/5 Rathlin Is A Big Winner

Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on a chilly Saturday; Rathlin in the 4.15 at Fairyhouse; Compare odds.

Hopefully Fairyhouse will pass its second inspection of the morning at 10:30am and, if it does, it will be the only jumps card in Britain or Ireland this afternoon.

The 2m Racegoer’s Package 25Euro Hurdle is an interesting contest in which Darwin’s Fox is a very interesting prospect for Henry De Bromhead and Andrew Lynch.

A winner of a Listed novice hurdle and a bumper last season, he’s been off for the best part of a year and this could well be a stepping stone to something at one of Irish spring festivals, which puts me off him slightly. The six-year-old is definitely worth keeping an eye on this afternoon, however.

Later on the card Rathlin (4:15) should be tough to beat in the novice chase, with Mouse Morris’s charge getting off the mark at the third time of asking over fences last time over this course-and-distance.

Sixth to Al Ferof in the Supreme Novices’ Hurdle last season, he finished third to the useful Bishopsfurze on his penultimate start, after which he had a wind operation that seemed to do the trick.

The son of Kayf Tara also appeared to appreciate the step up in trip as he pulled 17 lengths clear of the former smart hurdler Aitmatov and the third home Harpsy Cord came out and ran well behind the exciting Soll earlier this week.

Paddy Power (4/5) offered the best price about the selection this morning.

Saturday’s selection:
4:15 Fairyhouse Rathlin (4/5 Paddy Power)
