Danny Fullbrook’s TV Tips

The Daily Star’s Chief Football writer, Danny Fullbrook, gives his verdict on the four TV Premier League fixtures this weekend.

Liverpool v Arsenal, Sat 3rd Mar, 12.45, Skysports 2
The weekend’s football kicks off with Liverpool against Arsenal and Arsene Wenger typically moaning about the amount of action his players got in the international midweek friendlies.

The Gunners boss is desperate for his side to carry on from where they left off against Spurs, who they thrashed 5-2 last weekend, with another win here as 14/5 outsiders (Stan James). Their confidence must have been boosted by that and Theo Walcott, who scored twice in that game, should be on fire, especially as he was only a late second half sub for England on weds.

It will be tough going to Anfield and Liverpool have done well against the big teams there while the Gunners are poor on their travels. It will be interesting to see how fit Robin van Persie is going to be. Liverpool have hit a bit of form recently but beating Brighton and Cardiff in the cups is different to Arsenal in the league.

Liverpool will be desperate to win this game and Ladbrokes make them 11/10 to do so for their own Champions League hopes but I fancy a 1-1 draw (13/2, BetVictor) with Walcott scoring first – he is a 12/1 shot with Blue Square.

Newcastle v Sunderland, Sun 4th Mar, 12.00, ESPN
The two lunchtime games on Sunday are Newcastle V Sunderland and Fulham V Wolves. The Toon are difficult to beat at home, they are 6/5 with William Hill this weekend, and this of course is a very big game for both teams. It was an unusual defeat last week for Sunderland and both teams will have a point to prove.

If Newcastle can defend well I think they will have the advantage in this game. If that is the case then I see them running out 2-0 home winners, 9/1 courtesy of Paddy Power.

Fulham v Wolves, Sun 4th Mar, 14.05, Skysports 1
For me it will be the same result at Craven Cottage. Fulham have won five out of their last six at home. They are really tough to beat and their new Russian striker Pavel Pogrebnyak has scored two in two (he’s 6/4 for three in three, BetVictor) and they have two wins to their name on the bounce after beating Stoke and QPR.

Wolves will be giving their all because of the dodgy position they are in in the league but Fulham should have enough to win the game as Hill’s 4/6 favs. Coral give 7/1 on the 2-0 home victory.

Tottenham v Man United, Sun 4th Mar, 16.10, Skysports 1
Then comes the main Sunday feast when Manchester United take on Spurs at White Hart Lane. It is the toughest away game that United have left so I think Sir Alex Ferguson would be secretly happy with a draw, available at 12/5 with bet365.

Spurs were out of sorts against the Gunners and will be looking to bounce back quickly and maintain their third position. Boylesports make Spurs 19/10 outsiders.

The quality of football should be good but I fancy a 2-2 draw, 14/1 with Betfred, which is going out on a limb but I just have a hunch. I fancy Louis Saha to score at some point in the game, a 12/5 chance at Skybet.
