Saturday Double Pays At 3/1

Paul Ferguson has two selections on Saturday; Grumeti at Ascot (17.50) and Supreme Carolina at Kilbeggan (17.55). Compare odds and bet

Fit from a successful juvenile hurdle campaign Grumeti (5:40) is fancied to make a winning return to the Flat in Ascot’s concluding 1m4f handicap this afternoon.
Alan King’s four-year-old was last seen on the level last September, when third off 1lb higher than today’s mark in a soft ground handicap at Goodwood.

Since then, he’s made up in to a high-class hurdler, winning four times including in Grade 1 company at Aintree last time.

Given the improvement he has made over hurdles and, the fact that the step up in trip should suit, he ought to be tough to beat with the easy ground also in his favour.

Over in Ireland Supreme Carolina (5:55) should make amends for her recent defeat in the Kinnegad Maiden Hurdle at Kilbeggan.

A heavy ground bumper winner last September, Willie Mullins’s mare was all set to make a winning debut over hurdles at Cork last month when she lost her hind legs at the last and she lost all momentum.

She looked really green when hitting the front last time, so Ruby Walsh is bound to keep a hold of her until as late as possible, but basically she is a winner running in a maiden contest and will, hopefully, make no mistake this time.

Saturday’s selections:
5:40 Ascot Grumeti
5:55 Kilbeggan Supreme Carolina
