Take A Twirl At 11/8

Paul Ferguson has another selection for us on Wednesday from York’s Dante meeting; Twirl in the 14.30. Compare odds and bet.

York’s Dante meeting kicks off today and, having finished fourth in the 1,000 Guineas just 10 days ago, John Gosden’s The Fugue is a worthy market leader for this afternoon’s feature contest, the Group 3 Musidora Stakes.

That is easily the strongest piece of form on offer here, but she was reported to have been struck into behind during the Newmarket Classic, so it’s a little surprising to see her reappearing so quickly.

Proven form is taken on with potential in the shape of Twirl (2:30) who showed an abundance of promise in two starts as a juvenile and, given the form of the stable at the time, she would have almost certainly needed her reappearance in March.

Runner-up to the useful four-year-old Chrysandthemum, stable-mate Homecoming Queen was back in ninth that day and she left that form behind when winning the aforementioned 1,000 Guineas (also won trial in April).

The selection is a lovely looking daughter of Galileo who should relish York’s long straight judged on the way she galloped clear when winning her maiden at Leopardstown last November.

A full-sister to last year’s Irish 1,000 Guineas and Pretty Polly Stakes winner Misty For Me, she ought to relish the step up to the extended 1m2f and the 2/1 on offer with Paddy Power early on Tuesday evening seemed more than fair.

Wednesday’s selection:
2:30 York Twirl
