Palazzo Bianco pays 10/3

Paul Ferguson has another selection for us today; Palazzo Bianco in the 17.50 at Nottingham. Compare odds and bet.

Another fairly quiet day, but the Simply Racing Ltd Handicap is an interesting staying event at Nottingham in which Asker takes a big step up in class.

He was a good winner for the column last time, but he faces a tall order under top-weight this evening and is taken on with Palazzo Bianco (5:50) who, in contrast, is dropping in class.

John Gosden’s four-year-old was last seen finishing well down the pack in the Northumberland Plate, when he was well backed in to 7/1 at the off. The ground was atrocious that day so any horse is forgiven a poor run and he had earlier looked one to follow when third at Haydock.

A winner over this trip last September, the Shirocco colt looks set to run a big race and was trading at 4/1 with Ladbrokes last night.

In a competitive heat, Lexington Bay is another dropping in class, having finished just one place ahead of the selection at Newcastle last time. He had earlier finished midfield in a warm event at York and he can certainly win off his current mark in this kind of company.

At 8/1 he appeals as the value in the race, but he would appreciate easier ground so the vote goes to Palazzo Bianco.

Tuesday’s selection:
5:50 Nottingham Palazzo Bianco
