At the York Ebor festival, the Yorkshire Oaks is the highlight today and Stan James have The Fugue down as their 13/8 favourite.
Stan James’s Rory Jiwani said, “The Fugue is a clear favourite after her fine victory in the Nassau Stakes at Glorious Goodwood but French raider Shareta is a real danger in the colours of the Aga Khan. She was second in last year’s Arc and looks decent value at 10/3. English Oaks winner Was is an 11/2 shot and Wild Coco is 13/2 to give Sir Henry Cecil another York winner after Frankel’s scintillating victory. It’s 8/1 bar with seven runners set to go to post.
“Next year’s 1000 Guineas antepost favourite Newfangled is 10/11 for the Group 2 Lowther Stakes with Rosdhu Queen next best at 9/2. John Gosden’s daughter of New Approach is 6/1 for the Newmarket one-mile Classic but her odds could well shorten with an authoritative display tomorrow having won the Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot last time out.
“From 9am tomorrow we’ll be top price every runner in the 3.05, a mightily competitive class 2 handicap over a mile with David O’Meara’s Anderiego bidding for hat-trick on the Knavesmire. And again, we’ll be paying out each-way one-quarter odds for all races at York.”
