Double up at 2/1 at Curragh

Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Sunday; Born to Sea in the 14.50 and Harisiya in the 15.20 at Curragh. Compare odds and bet.

Aidan O’Brien will as usual be hoping for a successful day at the Curragh this afternoon with the likes of Cristoforo Colombo (Phoenix Stakes) and the returning Starspangledbanner (Phoenix Sprint Stakes) heading his team, but John Oxx is also well represented at the track and he can take centre stage by landing a big-race double.

Firstly Born To Sea (2:50) goes head-to-head with the high-class Famous Name in the Group 2 Royal Whip Stakes and preference is for the three-year-old, who ran a blinder behind Camelot in the Irish Derby last time.

This 1m2f trip could well be ideal and the drop in class (raced exclusively in Group 1 company this season) can reap the rewards for connections. The Invincible Spirit colt, who is without headgear today for the first time since the 2,000 Guineas, was trading at 10/11 this morning.

In the very next race, Oxx saddles the unbeaten Harasiya (3:20) in the Group 2 Debutante Stakes and the Pivotal filly can make it three from three.

A winner at Leopardstown on debut in June, she returned to the same track to land the Group 3 Silver Flash Stakes last month, where she run out an impressive winner from one of today’s rivals My Special J’S.

Aidan O’Brien has saddled five out of the last eight winners of this juvenile contest and he is likely to provide the stiffest opponent in the shape of Galway winner Magical Dream, but preference the Aga Khan’s filly who was trading at 8/13 early on Sunday.

Sunday’s selections:

2:50 Curragh Born To Sea
3:20 Curragh Harasiya
