Farrells Fancy of the day

Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Sunday; Farrells Fancy in the 4.20 at Listowel. Compare odds and bet.

Sunday’s domestic action isn’t the best, but Listowel’s 5 day Harvest Festival kicks off this afternoon where the Cheestrings Beginners’ Chase looks a cracking race for the time of year and one that should throw up plenty of future winners.

Though he hasn’t been seen since last Christmas a chance is taken on chasing debutant Farrells Fancy (4:20) who was a smart novice hurdler last term and has plenty of point-to-point experience to call upon.

Twice a winner between the flags, the eight-year-old ran a blinder on his rules debut in a Limerick novice hurdle in April of last year, when he split Last Instalment (beaten just a head) and The Real Article over today’s trip.

The winner developed in to a high-class novice chaser last season winning all four starts, two of which came in Grade 1 company, while the third made up in to a very smart hurdler that season.

Farrells Fancy returned to action in October (which bodes well for him going fresh today) to win a maiden hurdle over an inadequate 2m before finishing runner-up to the potentially high-class Sword Of Destiny.

He didn’t quite back that up in two starts thereafter, but he jumped particularly well last term, indicating his future lay over fences, and, though he’d prefer better ground, his class could see him home today.

Sunday’s selection:

4:20 Listowel Farrells Fancy
