£20 Sunday double returns £91

Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Sunday; Sizing Rio in the 1:15 at Navan and Mr Watson in the Market Rasen 1:40. Compare odds and bet.

Heavily backed before depositing AP McCoy on the Wetherby turf and being forced to miss his British debut last week Mr Watson (1:40) is worth keeping the faith with and he can make a winning start for his new connections at Market Rasen today.

The five-year-old Irish points winner joined Jonjo O’Neill and Gay Smith for £215,000 after finishing third in the valuable point-to-point bumper at Fairyhouse, where he stayed on strongly behind Rogue Angel and Balnaslow, both of whom have already won over hurdles.

Elsewhere, it’s a big day for jockey Andrew Lynch over at Navan where he rides the high-class pairing of Voler La Vedette and Flemenstar in the Lismullen Hurdle and Fortria Chase respectively.

Both could easily win, but the former is arguably better on less testing ground and the latter, who is an extremely exciting prospect for the months ahead, has been beaten on his seasonal return in both seasons racing. He is certainly the most exciting horse on show this afternoon, but connections have already stated the John Durkan is the main target and this is a stepping-stone.

Hopefully he’ll have the class to score, but the best bet of Lynch’s three short priced Graded favourites looks to be Sizing Rio (1:15) who can land the For Auction Novice Hurdle for Henry De Bromhead.

A winner by 18 lengths from Cops And Robbers (re-opposes today and has since won) on his hurdles debut recently, the four-year-old looked a very smart prospect and should be tough to beat.

Sunday’s selections:
1:15 Navan: Sizing Rio; 4/6 William Hill
1:40 Market Rasen: Mr Watson; 7/4 Skybet
