Peddlers Cross 7/4 @ Kempton

Paul Ferguson has one selection for us on Friday; Peddlers Cross in the Kempton 2.50. Compare odds and bet.

Kempton stages a Jumpers Bumpers card this afternoon and, while they are not always the best betting opportunities, this should prove informative ahead of tomorrow’s feature card at Cheltenham.

Paul Nicholls’ yard looked well and truly snowed in last week, so it will be interesting to see how his horses go, especially Pearl Swan who looks a class apart in the second race on the card.

He hasn’t been seen since falling in the Triumph last March, however, and it could be that this race is part of putting the finishing touches on his prep for the Betfair Hurdle.  If he is anywhere near being fully wound-up, I would be disappointed if he couldn’t take care of this lot.

Donald McCain has had Peddlers Cross (2:50) ready for a few of weeks now and, given that he had been targeted at last week’s abandoned Champion Hurdle Trial, the former Champion Hurdle runner-up ought to be straight enough for his belated return.

The eight-year-old ended last season on a sour note, with a disappointing run in the Jewson at Cheltenham, but reports have been positive that he is back to somewhere near his best in his homework this winter.

If that’s the case, he should be taking this en route to a crack at the World (or Champion) Hurdle.  The son of Oscar, who has won first time up in each of his three seasons racing, opened up 7/4 with Paddy Power last night and he can maintain his perfect record when fresh.

Friday’s selection:
2:50 Kempton: Peddlers Cross (7/4 Paddy Power)
