It looks as if Jose Mourinho’s time at Real Madrid is coming to an end and the Special One has one last chance to leave the Bernabeu on a high by claiming some silverware as his team tackles local rivals Atletico Madrid in the final of the Copa del Rey.
Los Merengues are emphatic favourites at 1/2 via bet365 to come out on top in normal time while Los Colchoneros have largely been written off by bookmakers, Skybet pricing them at 11/2 to stun their neighbours in the Spanish capital.
Given that Atletico currently sit third, albeit nine points behind second-placed Real, in the Primera Liga, those odds seem a touch lop-sided and the value subsequently lies with the underdogs.
Diego Simeone’s charges have lost only two of their last nine and those defeats came against Barcelona and Real Madrid, so they cross the city in decent shape. Of course their dismal recent record against Mourinho’s men is a worry, but in a one-off, huge encounter like a cup final, they can put that to one side.
