Paul Ferguson has two selections for us on Thursday; Sivola De Sivola in the Perth 2.55 and Sizing Rio in the Tipperary 6.35. Compare odds and bet.
The Dante rightfully takes centre stage on Thursday, but York’s Derby trial looks significantly weaker with Telescope missing from the line-up and the contest is now a watching brief for me.
As well as the Flat action from the Knavesmire, there is some decent jumps racing on offer today, with the 3m novices’ chase up at Perth the pick of the National Hunt action.
Tom George sent Sivola De Sivola (2:55) up to this track to win his maiden hurdle and the seven-year-old has always given the impression that he could improve for fences.
A useful handicap hurdler, the grey won three times in all over timber and, though he failed to strike in the latest campaign, he ran well on more than one occasion. The son of Martaline handles any ground conditions and, while this looks a decent contest to start off in, he can make a winning debut under Paddy Brennan.
Over at Tipperary Sizing Rio (6:35) is another taken to make a winning debut over fences, for the in-form Henry De Bromhead stable.
The five-year-old winning pointer looked good when winning his first two starts over timber last term, latterly when beating County Hurdle winner Ted Veale in a Grade 3, and has since been competing in Grade 1 and 2 company.
Pulled out of a much stronger race at Punchestown on Saturday, his trainer has found him a much easier opportunity here and it will be very disappointing if a clear round does not suffice.
Thursday’s selections:
2:55 Perth: Sivola De Sivola; 9/4 Paddy Power
6:35 Tipperary: Sizing Rio; 8/11 Bet365
